This line of Polyethylenes employs the Sclairtech polymerization technology in solution at medium pressure and temperature; for its production it uses a mixture of ethylene and an optional comonomer (Butene or Octene according to the product) dissolved in cyclohexane, which are introduced into the reactor for its polymerization. At the reactor exit, other products are added to deactivate the catalyst and subsequently remove these compounds via an activated alumina bed.
Prior to the extrusion and granulation step, the polyethylene solution in cyclohexane goes to a volatile extraction stage, in which the solvent, ethylene and unreacted comonomer, are removed. The molten product flows into the extruder to be granulated. The last step of the process is the drying of the product and its packaging, according to the client’s requirements, in 25 kg bags.
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Medium Density (MDPE) and Low Density Linear (LDPE) can be obtained in this production line, which has an installed capacity to produce 190,000 TM per year of Venelene® Polyethylenes used in the following processes of processing:
• Co-extrusion and Lamination (automatic packaging, boutique bags).
• Injection: Lids, toys, general use utensils, plastic containers, crates and paletts.
• Rotomoulding: Tanks for storage of water and drums.
• Flexible pipes extrusion and cable coating.
